First Annual “Gig Awards!”

Happy New Year! Last year was a super year for Call Sheilah! We grew in so many ways, and continue to work on and manage projects every day. We love keeping ourselves entertained with our fun, interesting, unique, complicated, and exciting gigs. Since it often feels like we do everything under the sun, we decided to have an end-of-year wrap up to showcase some of the work our team did in 2022.

It’s not your “typical gig” because we were our own client. The new company van is amazing to drive, and Aisling, our operations and admin extraordinaire, had a great time redesigning and updating the branding. This van is beautiful and I love driving it around the Capital Region. If you see the Call Sheilah! mobile, make sure to snap a pic and tag us in a post on social media. When we see the post, we will send you a t-shirt!

Last month, we were asked to park cars for a gathering of book club ladies. This repeat client, who uses our services for everything, has six acres of land and a U shaped driveway. They were concerned that so many cars might block access to the driveway in case of an emergency, and they wanted to make sure their friends were able to park safely. As it turns out, the book club ladies are excellent at carpooling, and we only ended up parking 3 cars. There have been a number of gigs that fall into the category of “how do I even bill for this?” With this one, we decided we wouldn’t charge anything for the 1.5 hours of work, but rather would use the opportunity to tell the story (with permission from our dear client!) of the silliest gig we had this year.

A book of proverbs from 1841, this little book is still intact with the original cover! We’ve had so many cool finds in our shop, including radium painted travel alarm clocks from the 30’s, tons of Pyrex, and many beautiful antiques and pieces of artwork. CLICK HERE to see what interesting treasures we’ve discovered. A portion of profits are donated to support trans and gender expansive youth organizations!

We helped a wonderful client get ready to move to Colorado to be closer to his children and grandchildren. We helped him downsize, held a garage sale, then packed everything carefully, supervised the move crew and arranged for professionals to meet him in Colorado to get him unpacked and settled into his new home quickly. No Move Too Big (Or Too Far!)

Our client needed their massive stamp collection arranged. It was a task that had a lot of moving parts, including boxing up thousands of loose stamps and stamp binders in preparation for a two part move. The first leg of their move was in May of 2022, and the second leg is coming up this month. This job required tons of detailed work. Fortunately for this client and others, one of our mottoes is “No Detail Too Small!”

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are embracing the opportunities of this new year, and when you find yourself needing a helping hand, Call Sheilah!
